“On behalf of the Connecticut Charter Schools Association and our state’s families, who have long-awaited additional public school options for their children, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Connecticut State Department of Education for releasing The Charter Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Development of State and Local Charter Schools.

This RFP is the first our state has seen since 2017 and answers the collective demand of our state’s parents who have been advocating for additional public charter schools in our state for 5 long years, and never more than during the past two years of COVID.

The Association is excited to watch our state’s great public charter school sector, which has been successfully serving the children of Connecticut for over 25 years, add opportunities for students, families, and their communities. CTCSA is ready to work with potential school leaders from across the country, communities throughout the state, legislative leadership, and Governor Lamont to ensure that the promise of new schools becomes a reality for the children of Connecticut. Together, we can ensure that all kids have access to a high-quality public school of their choice,” said Ruben Felipe, Executive Director of the Connecticut Charter Schools Association.
