I’m writing now with an update on COVID-19 and resources available to charter schools during these uncertain times.
Today, Governor Lamont announced that he will be extending the school closure mandate to last until “at least” May 20th. We will continue to keep you updated on school closure updates as we receive them.
During these trying times, our team wants to ensure that you have the opportunity to lean on experts for valuable information and guidance. To that end, we would like to extend an invite to you to join two webinars next week:
-
On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at 11 am School and State Finance Project and Pullman & Comley will be hosting a free webinar on how the COVID-19 crisis may impact Connecticut and its school districts. This webinar will feature presentations from Katie Roy (School and State Finance Project) and Mark J. Sommaruga (Pullman & Comley), and will focus on the potential effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Connecticut’s economy and school funding. To RSVP for this webinar, click here.

On Thursday, April 16, 2020, at 12 pm, the National Center for Special Education in Charter Schools will be hosting a webinar discussing issues around school closures and remote education. The discussion will focus on COVID-19 guidance and resources, address the specific challenges posed by remote learning, and share best practices for educating students with disabilities. The webinar will provide space for you to ask questions of the Center’s staff and each other and to share resources to enable the provision of high-quality education to students with disabilities despite challenging circumstances. As you navigate these uncharted waters, our team will continue to compile updates and resources related to COVID-19, which you can access by clicking here.
